I also saw that i havent been playing for 5 but for 6 years, my char was born on January 17 2004. <br /><br />I actually have an entire post written out, unfortunately the timeline of events is wrong, i will try to get this fixed over the weekend.<br /><br />PMX<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4408520355927065604-5036890405941162403?l=puppetmasterx.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>PuppetmasterXhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17749062613433514962noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4408520355927065604.post-972789293075550272010-01-29T03:15:00.000-08:002010-01-29T15:13:31.386-08:00First of all welcome to my very first blog.<br /><br />I have been thinking about writing a blog for some time wanting to share some of the experiences of my life as a pod pilot from starting out as an empire low sec miner over 6 years ago to running one of the largest and oldest alliances in the game.<br /><br />I should maybe mention that i am not an active pilot anymore, while i do log in every once in a while and even join a fleet this blog will most likely not cover current or even recent events in New Eden. Instead i will talk about what i consider my personal end game of Eve Online and how it has influenced my personal (and professional) life.<br /><br />(btw i am not a writer or a native english speaker so please forgive any spelling mistakes)<br /><br />So here goes...<br /><br />I started playing Eve in January 2004 after i saw one of my friends playing it and got hooked fairly quick. After a few days in the game i joined my first corporation "The Lost Boys [TINK]" a corporation i would stick with until its end (more about that later). My eve career started fairly boring mining in low security space, to first provide my first cruiser and later my first battleship. Back then making isk was no where as easy as it is today and i spent about 3 months mining for my first Megathron class battleship, which then shortly after got killed by a pirate, so i spent some more time mining for a new one.<br /><br />Around fall of 2004 TINK ventured into 0.0 space for the first time joining the Rising Star Alliance based out of Fade. By the time I had made it out to Fade Rising Star Alliance was already disbanded and TINK together with a few other corps had formed the Fade Union.<br /><br />During this time i was still a happy miner enjoying the riches of mining in 0.0 (in a Battleship), not having any clue about PVP or politics. I also wasn't aware that we were on the verge of war, the first big war eve would see later to be known as the Great Northern War. As i mentioned i did not know (or even care to know) why we were fighting but i soon got a taste PVP and started enjoying it, since then i have never touched a rock (except maybe for corp ops if i couldnt get out of it).<br /><br />My first experience of PVP was a fleet battle in C4C. The Phoenix Alliance (one of the first true power blocks of EVE) had attacked our home station and we were there to defend it. Since i had no idea i was doing my Megathron was fitted with a couple or railguns, blasters, maybe an autocannon or two, and generally what you would consider a complete fail fit. During the fight i noticed i wasn't hitting anything so decided to move in closer, surprisingly i did not die and we held the field.<br /><br />During said battle i realised that i was doing something wrong and actually started learning about the mechanics of PVP (like ships having bonuses or guns having optimal ranges and other stuff). Things were a lot easier back then, tracking hadn't been introduced yet and there were basically 3 ship classes (not counting industrials and rookie ships) Frigattes, Cruisers and Battleships, and generally bigger was better with the exception of Cruise Missile Kestrels and Torpedo Caracals.<br /><br />If you would like to know more about the Great Northern War there is an excellent <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olT05ozGayQ">video </a>on it made by the RONA Corporation.
